Am so excited that we have a limited amount of this coffee from the Oaxaca (oh-ha-ka) area of Mexico available. The coffee name is simply as amazing as the coffee, named after the Zapotec Indians, an indigenous group to this area, located high in the Sierra Madre Mountains. The growers in this region, struggling to battle the disease Roya and other logistics have formed a cooperative with the initials UPCPIZ. (Union de productures de cimon pierra indegina Zapoteca)
They have established their own initial pulping station and a local mill preps the coffee after it has been received before shipment.
Through our relationship with Vournas Coffee and Growers First, we have partnered with the growers in this region to provide coffee seedlings and other needs. If you would like to learn more of the work of Growers First, please visit their website at: http://www.growersfirst.org/
