Papua New Guinea

Larry and AarlieDeep in the hills of the Waghi Valleys of Papua New Guinea lays the Madan Coffee Plantation. Larry and Aarlie Hull, the owners began their journey in coffee in the year 2000. Aarlie is the director of the farm and is a graduate of the University of Washington and her husband Larry is an orthopedic surgeon. Together they make an incredible team, focusing on the physical, social and spiritual needs of those on the farm. Aarlie, oversees programs such as women’s literacy, library and the everyday operation of the Madan Estate. Larry, with his background in medicine, helps in other areas such as the medical clinic and birthing center along with community health development. They are truly the hands and feet of the gospel.

Care is also taken in producing high quality coffee and protecting the environment, recently the farm has received the certification of being Rain Forest Alliance and is constantly working on new areas of agriculture that increase the coffee quality and production without damaging the environment. A major need in this area is clean, healthy, fresh water, so a focus on fresh water wells has been an underlying part of what they do. Larry, who comes from a Nazarene background, also assists at the Nazarene Hospital in Papua New Guinea.
